In 2015, the Assembly of Rajk László College has elected Matthew O. Jackson as the recipient of the John von Neumann Award. We cordially invites you to the John von Neumann Award Ceremony and the public lecture held by the awardee on the 26th November. The title of the lecture will be “Gossip and Diffusion in Social Networks”. The lecture will be held in English and registration is required.

Matthew O. Jackson is the William D. Eberle Professor of Economics at Stanford University from 2008. He is also external faculty member of the Sante Fe Institute and senior fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. In the last two decades, he has served as co-editor of many prestigious academic journals of economics. Professor Jackson’s main research area is the analysis of social and economic networks, furthermore he also has significant research in game theory and microeconomic theory. His book Social and Economic Networks (published in 2010) is already a must-read literature for all who is interested in studying economic network analysis. He has also been teaching two widely popular courses on the Coursera MOOC platform for many years, namely Social and Economic Networks and Game Theory.

The John von Neumann Award, named after John von Neumann is given annually by the Rajk László College for Advanced Studies to an outstanding scholar in economics and other social sciences, whose works have had substantial influence over a long period of time on the studies and intellectual activity of the students of the college.
